Ealing Beaver Project at Imperial Lates: Future Cities

Led outreach and joined a panel discussion on rewilding and nature-based urban design.

The “Imperial Lates” are a wonderful series of ree, adults-only, after-work public engagement events hosted by Imperial College London. These social evenings allow the public to interact with the latest scientific research and developments through creative workshops, live demonstrations, interactive experiments, art installations, talks, and discussions.

The Future Cities edition focused on how urban environments can evolve to become more sustainable, resilient, and nature-positive. I represented the Ealing Beaver Project at the event, helping to run the outreach stand and joining a panel discussion on urban rewilding — exploring how beavers can contribute to ecological restoration, flood resilience, and biodiversity in London’s parks.

Our stand featured updates from Paradise Fields in Greenford, the site of the UK’s first urban beaver reintroduction, and engaged visitors with conversations about how these ecosystem engineers are transforming local landscapes. It was inspiring to connect with so many people interested in urban ecology and the future of greener cities.
